Ironwood has developed a number of extenders (and rotators) that provide PGA and MGA (.05″ pitch) connections. These parts can often be combined with a surface mount foot to move BGA, QFP, PLCC, and SOIC interfaces.
Several example drawings of extender and rotator designs are provided below. Rotators provide physical rotation of a device and can also be incorporated in an extender’s design.
We have used flexible printed circuit board material in some of our custom extenders.
Our line of standard PLCC Extenders allow the vertical extension of PLCC sockets for easy access by emulation and test equipment. We offer several types of these and several example drawings of PLCC extenders like the XT-PLCC-01 pictured at left are provided below.
This example device rotator provides a 90 degree counter-clockwise rotation of a PGA interface. Two of these rotators can be stacked to achieve a 180 degree rotation.
This part extends a 168 pin PGA (e.g. Intel 486) package 1.8 inches with a one-to-one pinout.
Part extends a 132 pin MGA (0.5″ pitch) 7.8 inches with a 0.5″ horizontal displacement.
This part extends a 68 pin PGA interface approx. 4 inches and rotates it 180 degrees.
