High Endurance Socket for NXP's SOT622-1

BURNSVILLE, MN - November, 2009 - Ironwood Electronics has recently introduced the new high performance socket for the 196BGA-SS-BGA196E-01. The contactor is a spring pin (pogo) with 22 grams actuation force per ball and cycle life of 500,000 insertions. The self inductance of the contactor is 0.84 nH, insertion loss of < 1 dB at 6.7 GHz and capacitance 0.76pF. The current capacity of each contactor is 1.5 amps. Socket temperature range is -40C to +120C. The specific configuration of the package to be tested in the SS-BGA196E-01 is NXP's SOT622-01 and other BGA ICs that are 12x12mm body size, 0.8mm pitch, 14x14 array. To use, drop IC in part, close clam shell lid, and apply down force using compression screw. The Socket is constructed of aluminum which provides heat sinking up to several watts and custom heat sinks can easily be designed for higher power dissipation. This socket can be used for hand test and burn-in applications with the most stringent requirements.
