High Power Dissipation Socket for 68 lead CQFP with E-pad

BURNSVILLE, MN - September, 2009 - Ironwood Electronics has recently introduced the new high performance socket for the 68CQFP with E-pad - SS-QFJ68SC-01. The contactor is a spring pin (pogo) with 30 gram actuation force per ball and cycle life of 100,000 insertions. The self inductance of the contactor is 0.96nH, insertion loss of < 3 dB at 37GHz, and capacitance of 0.5pF. The current capacity of each contactor is 4 amps. Socket temperature range is -40C to +150C. The specific configuration of the package to be tested in the SS-QFJ68SC-01 is 68 lead Ceramic QFP with 1.27mm pitch, ground pad, and gold plated leads formed to custom tip-to-tip specification. The socket has a floating gold plated center block to dissipate heat from E-pad of the device to target square pad on the PCB. The socket also features a floating alignment guide with grooves for precisely locating QFP leads to target pad. The socket has a hole in the top side to access center portion of the package either for temperature testing or Focused Ion Beam testing. To use, drop IC in part, close clam shell lid, and apply down force using compression screw. This socket can be used for hand test and burn-in applications with the most stringent requirements.
